Dual Patient Room - 3rd year university project

Based on the theory of salutogenic design, the goal for this respite care room is to provide a calm, tranquil environment that heals the patient not only through the care provided, but the architecture of the space itself.

By using the repetition of horizontal lines; steady rhythm in all patterns; and a serene color palette, our space encourages the relationship between health, stress, and coping - the basis of salutogenic theory. By providing a design that helps promote manageability, meaningfulness, and comprehensibility, we give patients dignity and choice in their personal space and allow them to feel comfortable no matter their mobility, age, or background.
